Bringing Light to Communities: Jeremy Begay’s Clean Energy Journey

For Jeremy Begay, clean energy is nothing short of amazing. Jeremy’s journey into clean energy began after working as a construction laborer and training as an electrician. Encouraged by an instructor, he transitioned into renewable energy and now works as a Service Technician at Navajo Power Home.

One of the most rewarding aspects of his work is bringing electricity to elderly members of his community. Seeing their joy when they flip on a light switch for the first time is unforgettable. “They’re so happy to see me when I do a 90-day visit,” he shares. “They remember me and say ‘hey yázhí,’ which is how we greet our elders. That relationship is amazing.”

He wishes more people understood the long-term benefits of clean energy. While the upfront cost can seem high, he explains that a basic solar system can pay for itself in as little as four years. “From there, you just make your money back,” he says, emphasizing the affordability and accessibility of renewable energy solutions.
